When I think about fashion I think about clothes and shoes and makeup and accessories. These things spark joy in soul. My favorite tube of red lipstick, my little black dress, my black converse all these things make me happy. So, it’s probably safe to say that am obsessed with fashion. The reason they make me so happy considering that I may sound a little bit vain is that they make me look good and feel good. When I wear these pieces I feel confident, comfortable, sexy and importantly stylish.
Fashion is a form of self-expression through style. Everyone has a sense of style. You choose between what colors you want to wear, what type of pants you love or if you prefer heels or flats. Therefore, everyone has a different style. Style can range from vintage, bohemian, chic, tomboy to casual and sophisticated. It’s one of the first things I notice about a person and from that I get a first impression before even talking to them. Take for example a girl in mom jeans and a t-shirt and a pair of trainers, her clothes tell us that she likes being comfortable and being a little trendy.
Figuring out your style is about your personality. Who are you as an individual and what looks, or type of clothing do you think best suits you. Once you have that part figured out its now a bit easier to know what you are looking for, you won’t go on a website and buy anything just because they all look good, you will know what pieces appeal to you and build up from there.
The five basic principles of complete wardrobe include:
- Quality-good quality of clothes last you longer even though they might be expensive.
- Variety- a mix between classic pieces and what’s on trend is optimal.
- Form and function- clothing should be comfortable, happy and beautiful.
- Versatility-it should be filled with pieces that can be used multiple times with different outfits.
- Personality- your clothing should reflect your personal style.
How do I look is a question I think we all ask ourselves pretty much all the time because not only should your style sort of speak for you first but also portray your personality.
